The organizing member has been working in Surana village, a small village near Ghaziabad.
Surana Village is a peaceful village with farms and farmlands, located 1.5 hours by car from Delhi. Nature, animals, and humans live together in harmony.
Bharat, who lives in Surana Village, studied in Japan in 2008, and Sonomi, a member of the organizing team, was Bharat's Japanese teacher at that time.
Since his time studying in Japan, he has had a desire to do something for his village, and he began this project in 2014 to give back to Surana Village what he learned in Japan.
He built a library right next to his house to provide a place for young people to study. Since then, he has been dedicated to a wide range of activities, including cleanups, tree planting, educational support, employment support, health promotion, etc. Japanese language classes also started in 2015 and now one student from Surana is studying in Japan.
Bharat started this activity by himself and gradually his activity has expanded including other young people in the village who support his idea. And now even children are also participating and are motivated to make their village a better place.
The organizing members hold an online exchange program to connect Japan and India during COVID. We have seen how children in Japan and India connect through storytelling, yoga, music, and exchange programs. For Surana people who have few opportunities to connect with the outside world, Japan is the closest foreign country. Having Japanese people in Surana opens up a new world and leads to new possibilities for them.
Nikhil, a director who magically arranges Indian nostalgic tunes that everyone knows, with his magical jazzy touch. 15 musicians from Bollyjazz led by Nikhil collaborate with Japanese musicians. They will create magnificent big brass band harmonies for the audience.
